E-Commerce
Short for Electronic Commerce, e-commerce usually
translates to having a shopping cart on your website and being
able to collect credit and debit card payments.
We create shopping carts. We can also install shopping
carts created by third party developers. Prices vary. We can
typically develop a custom shopping cart for your site costing
between $500 and $750, depending on what requirements you have
for it.
However, most of our customers are very small, non-profit
organizations and businesses that don't get tons of online
sales. When you have a shopping cart, you also need a bank to
process the transaction. These transactions are processed
under what are known as merchant accounts, and merchant
accounts can be quite costly. Setup fees, monthly fees,
minimum monthly sales requirements, and transaction fees all
begin to add up.
Many of our customers opt to go with an alternative like
PayPal, which also provides a built-in shopping cart. With
PayPal, you can accept credit cards without having a merchant
account, and you only pay for transaction fees. If you want to
remove the PayPal label from the transactions, there's a
monthly fee. Most choose the free option instead.
