Have You Seen A Website Template You Like?
Templates are becoming quite popular these days. If you've
been surfing around the web for templates, you know there are
a lot of options available. However, you might not know how to
turn them into websites.
We can do that for you. We will take any template
you choose to buy from any template source and turn it into a website for you.
One thing we should point out is that many template
designers write poor code which makes it very difficult to
make changes to the site. The result is that
the pages look spectacular, but they're very inflexible when
it comes to changing text, photos, etc.. This adds tremendously to development costs of
the website.
Two of the better template sites we've seen are:

costs might be involved in implementing it.
More Info About Poorly Written Templates
Many
templates are so restrictive that you have to match almost
exactly the number of characters and words they used in their
original layout. With such layouts, if you exceed the hidden
limit, the page starts to look "broken." What's worse,
the designer almost never tells you about this in advance.
Also, many templates require that replacement photos be
exactly the same size as the originals. Again, they almost
never tell you that, either.
There are also template designers who are rather lax
regarding licensing, particularly where photos and graphics
are concerned. Template designers often include photos and
graphics created by other people into their work. If the
original creators of those photos or graphics ever decide to
try to collect, they'll be coming after you, not the designer.
Why? Because copyright law holds the website owner
responsible, not the designer of the website! Most customers
don't know that.
In fact, beware of a designer who offers you a template
that includes photos of people, who promises to give you a
license for the site and photos but doesn't provide model
releases, too! It doesn't matter whether they claim to already
own the photos. If those models ever decide to sue someone for unlicensed use
of their images, they'll be coming after you, not the designer!
Many people think that if they see an image they like on a
website somewhere, they can just take it provided that the
website doesn't show a copyright mark. This is not true.
Copyright law no longer requires showing a notice of copyright
in order for the work to be legally protected. Thus, if you
see it on a website, it's copyrighted by the creator. Nor does
the creator have to register their copyright with the
government in order to be protected. They're protected anyway.
Consider yourself forewarned.
That's why we recommend that you use only photos that you
have taken or that you have a signed photo release from the
original photographer AND from any models used in the
photographs. With the low cost of digital cameras these days,
that's an option most people can afford. And where graphics
are concerned, we recommend NOT using them unless you've paid
the graphic designer directly for their work and gotten a
license for their use. Graphic images are generally expensive
to create, so most of our customers don't bother with them.
Again, all of the above can add "hidden" costs to your
chosen template. If you aren't sure about whether a particular
template that you found and like might cause problems, contact
us first. We can help. And as a general rule, it's better
to play it safe if you're not sure.
